International Search for Talent: Global Head of Marketing (The Hague)

Our client runs c$250bn of AuM in Europe and Asia. Over the last 24 months it has been IPO’d to create a new rebranded entity. A new Exco has been put in place and the first key hire the Global Head of Distribution needed to make was a Head of Marketing.

This role was key to the firm’s growth aspirations. Not only was there a significant re-branding exercise to undertake, but the firm’s growth focus meant the need for strategic marketing input to communicate better with existing clients and new prospects was critical to the future success of the firm. In addition, marketing as an activity was being undertaken division by division and as such, there was no central marketing function.

The role required someone with a depth of marketing leadership experience within asset management. Additional criteria for assessment were people leadership, change management, senior stakeholder management and international client experience.

AMC’s search strategy involved a global mapping of key asset management marketing leadership talent. This was then narrowed down to firms that had been through significant change over the last 5-7 years.

A shortlist of 6 candidates was presented to the Global Head of Distribution. The successful candidate was based in Zurich and was Global Head of Marketing for a competitor firm. He had worked in Europe, Asia and the US in a variety of sectors including FMCG, Asset Management and Private Banking.
