The Mandate

An international reinsurance broker required support to build its North American platform — scaling from an existing revenue base to a national presence across MGA, specialty and programme business.

A multi-hire mandate requiring:

  • 4+ senior producers with portable books (~$4m each)

  • Coverage across MGA, specialty and P&C reinsurance

  • Build-out across East, Central and West Coast US markets

  • Alignment with an entrepreneurial, growth-oriented platform

The core challenge was identifying producers with both commercially meaningful books and the willingness to move to a less established platform — a combination that sits within a highly constrained segment of the US reinsurance market.

The additional requirement to build complementary class coverage across multiple hires meant assembling a team, not simply executing parallel searches.

AMC mapped the US reinsurance producer market across three tiers — senior producers, peer-level hires and high-impact number-twos — enabling the client to build a structured team rather than fill roles sequentially.

A critical element of the search was assessing portable book viability — distinguishing between relationships that were transferable and those tied to incumbent platforms.

Candidates were also evaluated on entrepreneurial fit, ensuring alignment with the client’s growth strategy as well as their commercial track record.
